How to Prepare for Hajj 2026: A Complete Checklist

From pre-registration and vaccinations to packing and du’a, here is the practical, step-by-step checklist every Bangladeshi pilgrim needs to be ready for Hajj 2026.

Hajj is the journey of a lifetime — and a journey that rewards preparation. Pilgrims who plan early arrive calmer, healthier and far more focused on worship. At Inter Gulf Travels we have guided pilgrims from Bangladesh since 2002, and the single biggest difference between a smooth Hajj and a stressful one is simple: starting early and following a clear checklist. Use this guide from the day you decide to go until the day you board your flight.

Start with pre-registration and your booking

Both government and private Hajj quotas in Bangladesh fill quickly, so the first step is pre-registration through the national Hajj management system. Do not leave this to the last minute — the earlier your serial, the more certain your confirmation. Once you are pre-registered, choose a licensed agency and a package that matches your budget and physical needs.

  • Pre-register through the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hajj portal.
  • Choose a licensed agency — verify the Hajj license number before paying.
  • Pick a package tier (economy, standard or premium) that suits your stamina and budget.
  • Get the inclusions in writing — flights, hotels, meals, Ziyarat and guide should all be listed.

Documents you must have ready

Document delays are the most common reason a pilgrim's Hajj is at risk. Prepare these well in advance and keep both originals and photocopies in separate bags.

  • A machine-readable passport valid for at least six months beyond travel.
  • Recent passport-size photographs with a white background.
  • Your National ID and a photocopy.
  • The mandatory meningitis (ACWY) vaccination certificate, plus any seasonal requirements announced for the year.
  • Proof of payment and your agency's package confirmation.
Make digital copies of every document and email them to yourself. If a bag is lost, a phone photo of your passport and vaccination card can save your journey.

Prepare your body months before

Hajj is physically demanding. Tawaf, Sa'i and the long days in Mina and Arafah involve hours of walking, often in heat. Begin light daily walking at least two to three months before departure, building up to several kilometres comfortably. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure or a heart condition, see your doctor early, carry a written prescription, and pack enough medication for the entire trip plus a week's buffer.

Learn the rites before you go

Knowing the sequence of Hajj in advance turns confusion into calm. Study the difference between Ifrad, Qiran and Tamattu, learn how to enter ihram and what its restrictions are, and memorise the Talbiyah. Inter Gulf Travels runs a pre-Hajj training workshop for every group, but reading and revising on your own beforehand makes the workshop far more useful.

  • Understand the days of Hajj: 8th to 13th of Dhul-Hijjah.
  • Practise the Talbiyah and key du'a until they are natural.
  • Know the rules of ihram for men and women.
  • Keep a small Hajj guidebook or app for quick reference.

Pack smart, pack light

You will move between Makkah, Mina, Arafah and Madinah, so a heavy suitcase becomes a burden. Pack two sets of ihram for men, modest comfortable clothing for women, and items that genuinely help.

  • Unscented soap, toothpaste and wet wipes (perfumed products are not allowed in ihram).
  • A light prayer mat, a small umbrella for shade, and a refillable water bottle.
  • Comfortable sandals that are easy to remove and a drawstring bag to carry them.
  • A money belt, a power bank, and a universal adapter.
  • A basic medical kit: pain relief, rehydration salts, blister plasters and any personal medicine.

Prepare your heart and your affairs

Hajj is an act of worship that begins long before the airport. Settle your debts, return anything you have borrowed, and seek forgiveness from those you may have wronged. Make sincere tawbah, increase your voluntary prayers, and ask Allah to accept your intention. Inform your family of your plans, leave clear instructions, and travel with the intention of returning a better person.

Two weeks before departure

In the final fortnight, confirm every detail so nothing is left to chance.

  • Reconfirm flight dates, baggage allowance and reporting time with your agency.
  • Exchange some Saudi Riyal for arrival expenses.
  • Activate international roaming or arrange a local SIM plan.
  • Label your luggage clearly with your name, group and phone number.
  • Attend the pre-Hajj briefing and meet your group leader.

Preparation is itself a form of worship — it protects your health, your time and your focus so that, standing on the plains of Arafah, your mind is on nothing but your Lord. If you would like a personal checklist tailored to your package and health needs, our advisors are always happy to help. May Allah accept your Hajj and grant you Hajj Mabrur.
